Reflections: Affirmations Open Doors…

“An affirmation opens the door. It’s a beginning point on the path to change.” Louise L. Hay

Affirmations are like seed planted in soil. Poor soil, poor growth. Rich soil, abundant growth. The more you choose to think thoughts that make you feel good, the quicker the affirmations work. Louise L. Hay

Do you believe in affirmations? Do you start your day with affirmations and prayers? As Louise Hay explains in the quote above, affirmations are seeds we plant for ourselves with words we choose to use daily; they can be negative or positive seeds. If we want positive results from our affirmations, we must repeat them several times a day, some suggest 50-100 times daily, ideally in front of a mirror. We could also write them down in a journal/notebook and then, each day, choose an affirmation and write it down about 15-20 times; over and over again throughout the day.
• We deserve peace and abundance. We are worthy. Only good meets us at the door of our heart.

“Belief consists in accepting the affirmations of the soul; unbelief, in denying them.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

The goal of an affirmation is to bring us, and others, a positive outcome, peace and abundance. But we must stay the course of making a positive difference in our lives. Affirmations are like a muscle, the more we use them, the stronger the expected results. Anything we do consistently and with conviction soon bears fruit… and that fruit might take 3-6 months or more to mature. I’ve added seven affirmations to this post. (you may replace We with I) Enjoy them with an open heart.
• We rise above the limitations of our past. We are present and fully engaged in our blessings.
• We answer in the affirmative to all the good around us. All our needs and desires are met.

“Constant repetition carries conviction.” Robert Collier

If you’ve lived, you’ve had your share of disappointments and hurts and they can take a toll on the human psyche. Even a mean word expressed in anger has tremendous energy behind it. If we can refrain from using those words on ourselves and others, the release will bring a lightness and joy to our space. We can start our day by standing in front of a mirror and repeating some of the inspirational affirmations included in this post or any you have written or culled elsewhere. One affirmation a day will suffice.
• We are the embodiment of love and it flows into the world like a tidal wave.
• We choose events and outcomes that invite uplifting opportunities into our lives. We are more than the sum of our experiences.

“Do you fear the force of the wind,
The slash of the rain?
Go face them and fight them,
Be savage again.
Go hungry and cold like the wolf,
Go wade like the crane;
The palms of your hand will thicken,
The skin of your cheek will tan,
You’ll grow ragged and weary and swarthy,
But you’ll walk like a man.” Hamlin Garland

There are certain foods that lend themselves well to an outdoor picnic, and breads, like the chestnut bread shown here, are perfect for such outings.  The first time I tried some was at the airport in Seoul, South Korea. I fell in love with the taste and texture and searched for it once I got back home to the US.  Recently, I bought an excellent loaf of Chestnut bread at our local Korean bakery.  It was moist, fresh, and choc a bloc with finely chopped pieces of chestnut. I knew it would great to share with my blog friends and when I saw the Plinky prompt about the outdoors, the word – picnic – leaped at me. It got me thinking about the foods we typically take with us when we go for a picnic or spend afternoon in  the park; hence the great outdoors mention on this post. When was the last time you enjoyed the great outdoors? or enjoyed a picnic with food you love?

RECIPE INGREDIENTS & INSTRUCTIONS
FOR Korean Chestnut Bread Loaf:
GLUTEN FREE
3 large eggs
1 tsp white cider vinegar
1/4 C canola oil
1 1/2 C water

1 C chestnut flour
1 C white rice flour
1/2 C potato starch
1/2 C tapioca flour
1/3 C corn starch
1C chopped Chestnut
2 tbsp xanthan gum
3 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
2/3 dry buttermilk (or dried milk)
2 1/2 tsp yeast

A number of  blog friends had mentioned how delicious the bread must be on my CREATE post, and that made me search for a suitable recipe. I haven’t been to a picnic in ages so I might plan one with friends and family in the coming weeks. The summer time is perfect for picnics and basic picnic food safety rules include making sure we take foods that are packed properly, transport well, hold up their flavor in heat, and won’t deteriorate rapidly. All we need to do is add a loaf of Chestnut bread, some cheese, our favorite beverage and fruit to our picnic hamper for an excellent outing. In my shot above, I toasted the slices lightly, added a dollop of organic peanut butter and some sprinklings of golden flax seed meal and it was delicious. You can get as inventive as you wish or eat it plain. Preparation and more information below! ;-)

JUST FOR TODAY, I will live through this day only. I will not brood about yesterday or obsess about tomorrow. I will not set far-reaching goals or try to overcome all of my problems at once. I know that I can do something for 24 hours that would overwhelm me if I had to keep it up for a lifetime.
JUST FOR TODAY, I will be happy. I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me. If my mind fills with clouds, I will chase them away and fill it with sunshine. Contd below

Armed with my camera, I went out and shot people, places, things, and my cat… It was delightful to ask others to be part of my today experience and, because I paid attention, I found some wonderful things to share… simple and sweet but all related to the moment, to the present, to today. Will add more so do come back shortly.  How was your day today? More below. TY!

JUST FOR TODAY, I will accept what is. I will face reality. I will correct those things I can correct and accept those I cannot.
JUST FOR TODAY, I will improve my mind. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. I will not be a mental loafer.
JUST FOR TODAY, I will make a conscious effort to be agreeable. I will be kind and courteous to those who cross my path, and I’ll not speak ill of others. I will improve my appearance, speak softly, and not interrupt when someone else is talking.Contd below

As I made my way around town to complete tasks and the usual daily chores, I found moments to capture a scene or event that I wanted to share as a memory of today. At home, I pulled out the camera and calling out to our beloved Tangy, asked him nicely to pose. He looked up, made a few funny faces then jumped on top of the container and gave me some poses. “TY!” I muttered, but he was off in search of the next curiosity. The aqueduct always yields new secrets and, depending on the day/time, I see more to share. More below!
