A tunnel of emptiness
Dank … bereft of love
Śūnyatā taught me…
Emptiness makes room for grace
Dark … to glowing light
Each week, through the generous guides at The Daily Post, we receive wonderful prompts to explore. Every day, a new prompt gives us the opportunity to dig deep and find answers buried somewhere in our creative toolbox. They also offer the Weekly Writing Challenge on Mondays and we get to write a creative post of about 1000 words or less. This week, we get to pick one or two of four photos; each with a special word attached. We can write any type of creative post using the word and photo. I picked two photos to write on – Emptiness and Creativity… Co-joined twins; we need one to attract the other. Hope you like them!

I love this. When I see the hallway and its darkness before I would be scared to go through that tunnel because of fear now I look fear in the eye and I will seek out the tunnel and have faith something is on the other side.

I particularly love your phrase: emptiness inspires flowing fountains of color.
While emptiness has not always been a source of creative power for me, there are times that I have had a profound experience of deeper and more vivid colors flowing out of emptiness on several occasions in my life. You give me a good reminder to remember to empty myself as I seek to be more deeply creative.

I never knew you were supposed to SAY that you were using a writing prompt – just go for it. The scenic photo of the tunnel is actually very nice.
Beautiful post! tunnels are scary, but there is always light at the end. By the way, there is a place we go to – it used to be a secluded place nestled in the cordillera mountains – the asin hot springs. Before you reach the place, you have to pass two tunnels. As kids, when people ask how long is the trip, we say two nights and three days (it actually takes only 30 minutes from the city) because we pass through two tunnels.
I think the prompts are great for keeping writing fresh. You did a great job!

I see uncertainty in the first photo. It is like looking at a cave. It makes you think, should I go in or not?

I totally agree with you on being more creative when you are in your empty space. It’s hard to really sit down and think creatively when you have so much going on – you need to escape so that your mind is free to think.

I totally get that quote. When hubby is trying to tell me something, I have the hardest time focusing unless I drop what I’m thinking about and just plain listen.

I always feel empty and makes me want to explore more about myself and my surroundings.
