The Year Without Pants: An interview with author Scott Berkun

18/09/2013

Scott Berkun has written a brilliant insider account of the insights he gained from his time working for Automattic/WordPress.com. He shares the lessons he learned about the future of work and how the culture of work most of us know must innovate and get things done or perish.
Most of us are familiar with work cultures that are not always transparent, flexible or focused on providing clarity and building trust. Some of us work in environments that claim to encourage X but reward and promote Y.
If you want to spend less time in meetings and more time doing the hard work that builds companies, I’d encourage you to read Scott’s book. It is as entertaining as it is informative. You won’t be disappointed.
Scott was one of our original blog guides/leaders when the Post a Day Challenge was launched in 2011. He helped many bloggers find their way and develop their craft. He has written and published several other books. I enjoyed reading this book and I know you will too.

So glad you sent me this. Pinned it;http://www.pinterest.com/pin/147141112798892610/ Do have one concern, works for the highly creative person with gobs of integrity; not so productive with many others. Stay strong. I am struggling, but moving ahead.

Welcome back, Elizabeth! Will give you a call soon.
Interesting and funny title to which I can relate. Iโ€™ve done the last several years without pants precisely because I wanted work to be different. It wasnโ€™t as lucrative but Iโ€™m so happy to be able to continue doing what I love, with or without pants!

Elizabeth, where have you been?! So good to see you ๐Ÿ˜€

  11. 18/09/2013 8:01 pm

I was so pleased to see you in my in box. I haven’t read the book but the interview touches on two key issues in the workplace: trust and clarity. Insightful, courageous CEO’s learn to build that, but all too few. They rely on what they know.

    • 06/11/2013 1:17 am

TY Lynne and so good to hear from you… How are you and Ron doing? Hope all is well. I enjoyed the book and the insights Scott shared. Sadly, many fall back on old tactics. ๐Ÿ™‚

Nice to read a blog from you again! Like many of the other commenters I’ve missed you, but also know how tough it is to keep up with blogging. I’ve slowed down quite a bit myself. Hope all is well with you! ๐Ÿ™‚
