Inspiration: In The Heart Of Winter…

“On a lone winter evening, when the frost has wrought a silence, from the stove there shrills, The Cricket’s song…” John Keats

I noticed winter’s frosty blanket
Outside my kitchen window
Everywhere and on everything…
It slows our pace and numbs our hands
It forces us to contemplate…
In the heart of winter, a warm dawn awaits

More below!

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”  Lewis Carroll

Inspiration: In The Heart Of Winter…

In the heart of winter, far, far away from fall,
Winter’s white quilt adorns the streets
Like sheets of sleet and ice…
She changes the landscape
I’m grateful for the shifting seasons
For Winter reminds me daily that I too
Can make the effort to change…

Stay Inspired. Have a blessed day and thank you for stopping by! :-)

  1. Winter is the season where our bodies succeed catch up our brains – after the brain had an advantage the whole year… :-) ;-)

  2. Beautiful photos and quotes, Elizabeth. Love the Lewis Carroll. :)

  3. That Lewis Caroll quote encapsulates the magic of that first shot! Lovely post Eliz :-)

  4. I needed this as it is very very cold here today with a wind chill of -30F! I like winter but hate it when it is so cold that you can hardly be outside!

  5. Those trees are so gorgeous! Not that I enjoy snow, but it is truly beautiful for a moment.

  7. Lewis Carroll. I really liked that. And the picture is perfect for the words. Pretty, poetic, perfect.

  8. The Lewis Carroll quote is simply delicious.

  9. I think the scenery of freshly fallen untouched snow is beautiful. We have a ton of snow at our place right now. Nice post, Eliz!

Loved it! Shared in facebook with the following comment:
“I know winter here is pretty bland and there is barely no snow, but today I read this post and liked it a lot.
Not because I identified the place I live with the pictures, but because it sees the good about winter, and celebrates it, instead of getting bitter about it, like most of my Brazilian friends living in Seattle and like me in past years (I guess a year and a half of Vitamin D supplement may have something to do with my attitude change… ;o).”

    Thanks!

  11. I love Keats!
As much as winter sends chills racing up my spine, I do love how it blankets the trees.
    Just beautiful, Eliz! :-)

  12. Love the images and the moving words with it. Thanks. Have a blessed day my friend.

  13. You found the beauty of winter and thanks for sharing it. Brrrr.

  14. I am always intrigued by photos of snow. We just don’t have it like that!

  15. Love YOUR words honey!

  16. “…I too can make the effort to change” beautifully said. Love how you use the snow and winter to express.

  17. I really love the John Keats quote. A beautiful post, Elizabeth.

  18. Love the Lewis Carrol quotation. If only we could feel the love of nature the way Carroll sees it. Imagine how wonderful our lives would be.

  19. True … it would be a lovelier world… TY! :-)

  20. “In the heart of winter, a warm dawn awaits.” I certainly feel that with every chilly day. I keep telling myself the sun is shining and the clouds are blocking my view. Thank you for the link love Eliz {{{♥}}}
