Weekly Photo Challenge: Resolved…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Resolved…

Happy New Year! Since the new year started, I’ve felt a steady and persistent urge to seek more quiet time. This is not a bad thing because, when we turn down the incessant noise, our senses are heightened and we become aware of what truly matters; to live purposefully. For each person, the purpose might be different but the essence remains the same… Heed your heart’s dream. Do your work. Bloom where you are planted. Don’t be afraid of failure and success. In the picture above, the mailbox stands out in a sea of snow. It represents the heart and it holds messages and gifts. But we must open our heart’s door to receive them… even the ducks know it as they swim around the boat dock.. time is flying.

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams quote is brilliant and needs no further explanation… Both pictures above were taken recently. The bird perched on a skinny branch, and chirped away, as I wondered how it was going to survive the winter. The bird seemed content. The trees on the road just added a dash of color to the season. They too looked content. I shall be content with silence. More below!

“Of all our dreams today there is none more important – or so hard to realize – than that of peace in the world. May we never lose our faith in it or our resolve to do everything that can be done to convert it one day into reality.” Lester B. Pearson

Weekly Photo Challenge: Resolved…

Each of us has a responsibility to make our world a better place for all…  We can start by living peacefully, and by appreciating our surroundings on both clear and foggy days. The bridge of life will carry us safely across to our dream destination; to our goals, our resolutions or simply just to the other side, but we must act while we still have life. Again, Happy New Year and thank you for stopping by! 🙂
*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on reading and commenting on your blogs. Thank you all for your patience! 🙂

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: Resolved. Why not share a photo which represents one of your New Year’s resolutions? If you don’t make them, what about sharing a photo which represents something you’d like to get better at in photography this year? Share a picture which means RESOLVED to you!

My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. I added some from Zemanta and a few from WP Daily Post below. Check out how others interpreted the theme – RESOLVED – also see below. ***

Positive Motivation Tip: As we resolve to follow our unique paths, may the universe rally to support us. Happy New Year! Share your gifts!

Silence. Mmmmm. It’s so rare. ….yeah that’s usually my fault. 🙂

    • 09/01/2013 1:01 pm

It’s okay… we are all human and open to change in our own way. TY!

  2. 05/01/2013 5:28 am

A beautiful quote of Ansel Adams, Eliz. A very happy New Year to you too, and I hope we can make the world a better place. I hope. I will. We will!

We will in our own way… Thankfully, there are many ways to do that… If one door closes, another opens. TY!

Starting the new year with more optimism that the bridge of life will take us through the journey without faltering under our feet.

    • 09/01/2013 1:04 pm

Amen to that and pardon my silence… I’m in the throes of reworking my schedule and contemplating how to make it all churn effectively.

  4. 05/01/2013 5:37 am

Beautiful post, Eliz. I think a lot of people spend the cold, winter months “hibernating”. We all need a season of rest.

    • 16/01/2013 6:30 pm

Great idea and could be part of what prompts mine. 😉 TY!

  10. 05/01/2013 11:21 am

I’ve come to enjoy silence as I’ve gotten older. I used to almost be afraid of it, but somewhere along the line I realized it was more important to spend time with my thoughts that to try and drown them out.
    Beautiful post!

    • 18/01/2013 12:41 pm

I’ve been doing a lot more of that this year… very powerful insights surfacing… lots of changes in the air too. I am grateful for the silence. TY!

  11. 05/01/2013 1:08 pm

To be content with silence- I really appreciate this. Excellent post and I very much enjoyed the photos.

    • 18/01/2013 11:44 pm

TY for your feedback… Still catching up too. 🙂

  12. 05/01/2013 1:35 pm

The photos are beautiful, and especially interesting because they are not obvious ones to pair with the quotes. But you are so good at creating a story with them all…thank you for your writing.

    • 18/01/2013 11:45 pm

TY for your kind words… I enjoyed this one. Hope to catch up with you soon. 🙂

  13. 05/01/2013 4:12 pm

I’d like to find a quiet place – in my head. Is there an off button? I think it’s time, beyond time, to get back into meditation. :-). You’re always nudging me along. Thanks, Eliz ;-).

    • 18/01/2013 11:47 pm

TY Gemma! Meditation is a great way to start… It helps us stay calm under the usual challenges that life sends us. 😉

  14. 05/01/2013 4:54 pm

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”
This quote by Ansel Adams speaks to me. Thanks for sharing, Eliz.
Great selection of pictures too. It’s a joy to think about what they represent.

I find when I read something after a period of silence the text seems to make all of sudden great sense to me whereas before I may have had difficulty understanding it. I tend to be somewhat upset with myself when I can’t make myself read a lot. But it seems there’s a time for everything. To have periods of silence in between reading (or writing!) perhaps isn’t such a bad thing after all?

“Peace in the World”. I think first of all we have to find peace in ourselves!
And do whatever needs to be doing with some joy. Even washing dishes can be a joyful task!

    • 18/01/2013 11:51 pm

True Auntyuta, it must begin with us and then the rest follows… 🙂

  15. 05/01/2013 8:01 pm

“Bloom where you are planted” has to be one of the best quotes I’ve heard in a long time. You are a pure gem 😀

    Happy New Year, again. 🙂

    • 19/01/2013 1:12 am

Happy New Year to you too! It’s been an interesting start but perfect in many ways… Much can be said for what we learn when we just sit quietly and observe and listen… 😉

  22. 06/01/2013 12:22 pm

A lovely, contemplative post. Your quiet time is obviously fruitful 🙂

  23. 06/01/2013 3:49 pm

TY Jo! You are equally gifted… I appreciate the feedback! 😉

  24. 06/01/2013 5:13 pm

Peace, silence, joy..these are the ones we constantly work on to resolve within us and around us year after year. 2012 somehow had its share of chaos but we also had our share of goodness, thus it partly resolved thoses wishes we had and hopefully 2013 will complete them. Beautiful post my friend. A perfect start to a brand new year.

    • 19/01/2013 1:39 am

TY and wishing you and yours all the love and peace you need. 😉

  25. 06/01/2013 6:32 pm

Great photos! I really liked the one of the sky and water with the bridge in the distance. Great post!

    • 19/01/2013 1:41 am

TY James for your kind words… It was a very foggy day and I couldn’t see the bridge from my side of the water, so I drove to the next town to take some shots… It was very relaxing too. 🙂

  26. 06/01/2013 11:08 pm

These are some lovely pics Eliz. I especially like the one with the ducks floating in water. It looks very tranquil.

  27. 07/01/2013 3:18 am

Funny how many of us are starting this year with the need for greater periods of silence – time to contemplate, observe, just be

    • 19/01/2013 2:22 am

Yes, I thought I was alone and as I started making my visit again after a period of silence, i noticed others had done same… Such a great gift this Silence is… It has opened my eyes in many ways. TY! 🙂

  28. 07/01/2013 3:55 pm

Such a lovely post, Elizabeth. The photos are very serene and I really resonate with you about the importance of silence in our lives. As the New Year begins, I also feel a need to refocus on my purpose for being here. Thank you. Wishing you a wonderful 2013.
