Happy New Year! Since the new year started, I’ve felt a steady and persistent urge to seek more quiet time. This is not a bad thing because, when we turn down the incessant noise, our senses are heightened and we become aware of what truly matters; to live purposefully. For each person, the purpose might be different but the essence remains the same… Heed your heart’s dream. Do your work. Bloom where you are planted. Don’t be afraid of failure and success. In the picture above, the mailbox stands out in a sea of snow. It represents the heart and it holds messages and gifts. But we must open our heart’s door to receive them… even the ducks know it as they swim around the boat dock.. time is flying.

Ansel Adams quote is brilliant and needs no further explanation… Both pictures above were taken recently. The bird perched on a skinny branch, and chirped away, as I wondered how it was going to survive the winter. The bird seemed content. The trees on the road just added a dash of color to the season. They too looked content. I shall be content with silence. More below!

Each of us has a responsibility to make our world a better place for all… We can start by living peacefully, and by appreciating our surroundings on both clear and foggy days. The bridge of life will carry us safely across to our dream destination; to our goals, our resolutions or simply just to the other side, but we must act while we still have life. Starting the new year with more optimism that the bridge of life will take us through the journey without faltering under our feet.
Amen to that and pardon my silence… I’m in the throes of reworking my schedule and contemplating how to make it all churn effectively.

I’ve come to enjoy silence as I’ve gotten older. I used to almost be afraid of it, but somewhere along the line I realized it was more important to spend time with my thoughts that to try and drown them out.

Great selection of pictures too. It’s a joy to think about what they represent.
I find when I read something after a period of silence the text seems to make all of sudden great sense to me whereas before I may have had difficulty understanding it. I tend to be somewhat upset with myself when I can’t make myself read a lot. But it seems there’s a time for everything. To have periods of silence in between reading (or writing!) perhaps isn’t such a bad thing after all?
“Peace in the World”. I think first of all we have to find peace in ourselves!
And do whatever needs to be doing with some joy. Even washing dishes can be a joyful task!

Peace, silence, joy..these are the ones we constantly work on to resolve within us and around us year after year. 2012 somehow had its share of chaos but we also had our share of goodness, thus it partly resolved thoses wishes we had and hopefully 2013 will complete them. Beautiful post my friend. A perfect start to a brand new year.
