Reflections: You Yourself Must Change It…
Dreams Before Waking by Adrienne Rich
What would it mean to live
in a city whose people were changing
each other’s despair into hope?-
You yourself must change it.-
What would it feel like to know
your country was changing?-
You yourself must change it.-
Though your life felt arduous
new and unmapped and strange
what would it mean to stand on the first
page of the end of despair? (An excerpt)
ACT: To stand on the first page of the end of despair takes courage. But even more so, it takes persistent action. Working for the common good; helping the down and out, supporting causes that matter, showing simple kindness on the street, acknowledging others, takes commitment. We can sit back and let others do it or we can contribute to change the despair into hope… even in the smallest way. Thank You to my top five commentators for 2012: Bree, Frizztext, Tilly Bud, Granbee and Three Well Beings and thank you all who supported this blog (proper thanks in future post).
