Happy New Year! I thought you should know that The Emancipation Proclamation is 150 Years Old today. On January 1st, 1863, The Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It offered freedom for slaves and led the way to total abolition of slavery in the United States. The 13th Amendment, passed on December 6th, 1865, finally abolished slavery. There are images from that period for your perusal on theroot.com. As we close the door on 2012 and welcome 2013, may our New Year be filled with peace, abundant blessings, love and bliss. Thank You for stopping by… More below!

Elizabeth, I love the blessings you send. I’ll copy them and hold them close to my heart for this year. My first day I think was very auspicious. It’s been bucketing it down with rain and high winds and, suddenly, clear blue sky over Oxfordshire, still whispering wind, lovely relaxed walk down to the village. People out walking, pushbikes, on horses, all saying hello, good morning, happy New Year. Lovely day and lovely things to come this year. Much love and happiness to you dear Elizabeth, thank you so much for stopping by my blog. :)

  12. I love this post and I love the list. Since meditation is one of my resolutions, I will keep it handy and use it to focus. Great idea.

On the first day of the new year, I had brunch with dear friends on a cozy glassed-in porch overlooking a bay. Our brunch stretched lazily into the afternoon. At 4pm, I set out for the beach to listen and breathe and meditate on the ocean until dark. Perfection.
