A friend shared a decision about a difficult relationship and all the clamoring others made. It brought back memories and prompted this haiku; with a title to make us chill out and smile or relax a bit… You know, humor helps with heavy stuff. Sometimes, relationships flounder or end, even in blog land, and we must respect the shifting winds, put out the fire, or set our sails elsewhere. Music can soothe the hurt; but then we must move forward. More below!

Even though the holidays are a time of good cheer and family time, ironically, they can also trigger conflict, strong memories, and emotions of long forgotten events. Stop wrestling with the past. What is key is to stay true to our source of joy…and as the New Year approaches, make peace with our choices and ignore the naysayers in the peanut gallery. Holding on to the expired is paralyzing… Do what you are supposed to do. Drop it! Peace Y’all!

Wise words, friend. Relationship endings are so difficult, but it is the power within that matters. I have struggled with this for a long time, even now. I worry what others think of my decisions. I have learned to do what is right for me; although it doesn’t always stick, at least I try. Great quotes! 🙂

2012 had a lot of change for me personally. I changed jobs and cried when I broke it off with one company to begin again. It is all just part of the journey in the end.

Good advice, Eliz. With such a large family as mine, old feelings always crop up and continue to fester. People forget what’s important. . .
So true… and it can taint the joy that the holidays are supposed to bring… So my position is to be aware of these high emotional times and not fan the fires. Or at least know someone has your back! TY! 🙂

The holidays are entirely overwhelming in the emotional “needs” department! I am so glad I have a week before I go back to work! I need the time to do a lengthy, reasonable personal inventory. I really appreciate the line, “holding on to the expired is paralyzing.” What a strong statement! Thank you, Eliz. Such an interesting topic for the High Noon prompt. I’m not sure I was able to string together too many decent thoughts by noon today! 🙂

I stayed up way past my bedtime last night reading Pride and Prejudice and was glad I did. I mean really, when is reading a good book ever a bad choice?!? Anyway, this post made me think of something Elizabeth Bennett said to Mr. Darcy and I rather liked it and will work to incorporate the sentiment into my own thinking as often as I can remember to, “Think only of the past as its remembrance gives you pleasure.” Thanks for another great post! 🙂
