Haiku: Just A Dream…

20/12/2012

“I have had dreams and I have had nightmares, but I have conquered my nightmares because of my dreams.” Jonas Salk

Third door to your left
Wisdom lay dead, Greed glared back
The nightmare beckoned…

“Brute!” said the horse head
Winner take all, but what for?
“Tough!” said Greed, “Mine, Mine…”

There are great lessons to learn in dreams. Our nightmares remind us of what to conquer and what to embrace.  More below!

“I never paint dreams or nightmares. I paint my own reality.” Frida Kahlo

Beyond the door, FATE
No guarantees Greed won’t fail
Hunger waits her turn…

We look often at others to change, but we do nothing to help ourselves change… Fate has her place, but we determine our reality.  Happy Holiday Season to All! What nightmares wake you up at night?  What are your thoughts?

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Daily Prompt: Just a Dream. You’re having a nightmare, and have to choose between three doors. Pick one, and tell us about what you find on the other side.

*Please bear with me as I catch up on your blogs and commenting… I’m back on track; albeit at a slow pace. Thank you all for your patience! 🙂

Positive Motivation Tip: Our dreams can become nightmares if we don’t explore them. Take a chance. Explore!

Isn’t it funny how our dreams are fascinating to ourselves and deadly dull to those we tell?

    • 21/12/2012 3:19 pm

      Are you suggesting my haiku dream stinks? 😆 Some dreams are fascinating to others; especially when there’s intrigue involved. 🙂 {{{HUGS}}}

Beautiful my friend. Dreams gives us hope that better things happen and I agree, it helps us overcome the bad ones. Wishing you and your family all the joys, love and peace of the holidays.

    • 21/12/2012 3:20 pm

If “you” forget to dream while “you” are awake,
so everything can end in a nightmare… 🙂

    • 21/12/2012 3:23 pm

I hope not… I’m a day dreamer and sometimes I have nightmares but not much. I have found that certain foods and news reports trigger nightmares so I avoid them… 🙂 TY!

Waking up from a nightmare, and realizing it was a nightmare has to be the best feeling ever.

    • 21/12/2012 3:27 pm

Yes… it does. Lucid dreams make me jittery because they seem so real. Phew! 🙂 TY!

    • 21/12/2012 3:44 pm

TY Amy! Glad you connected with that line… I’ve been thinking about it a lot. Whenever I’m under great stress, I dream more and have more nightmares… so I believe it.

No nightmares here, however if they come along one day, it may be a nice change from the usual zzzzz’s every night! 🙂 I love the first image!

    • 21/12/2012 3:52 pm

Nightmares as a nice change? Sunshine you are funny! I hope you don’t have any as having nightly, restful zzzzzzzz’s is a gift. 🙂 I loved that image too. TY! 🙂

I rarely can remember my dreams. Maybe it’s a good thing, as I think that some are quite scary.

    • 21/12/2012 7:13 pm

Ha ha!If they are so scary, best to forget. 🙂

  13. 21/12/2012 9:43 pm

Very timely for me…love this set, and many of the quotations that I hadn’t seen before.

    • 26/12/2012 5:41 pm

TY dear one… I’m still catching up.. TY for the feedback! 🙂

  16. 22/12/2012 11:57 pm

Thanks for encouraging me to continue to dream. And to explore those dreams. It’s good to be reminded that we’re never too old to open up to the idea that we can explore new and fresh possibilities! 🙂

    • 26/12/2012 5:43 pm

I like to be reminded too… I have a tendency to think that we stop certain things after a certain age… No we don’t have to. TY! 🙂

  17. 26/12/2012 3:38 am

I’d better sharpen my haiku pencil in time for the January Mindful Writing challenge!

    • 26/12/2012 5:44 pm

What is that? I’m curious… I don’t know how you keep up with all the blog groups you joined. 😆

  18. 27/12/2012 11:51 am

So true, Elizabeth! Dreams can become nightmares if we don’t pursue them.

    • 27/12/2012 12:46 pm

For sure… and we all live at least one of them in our lifetime. TY! 🙂

I never paint dreams or nightmares. I paint my own reality. Wonderful reality.
