Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful

23/11/2012

Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.” Henry Van Dyke

Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful for the changing face of nature and her seasons

Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful for gatherings on healthy living, service, advocacy and love for others

I’m thankful I grew up the way I did. It made me a hard worker and insightful to other people’s lives. Rachel Roy
I’m thankful for every moment. Al Green
I am most thankful to Almighty Providence for mercies received, and determined still to press the case into public notice as a token of gratitude. William Banting
I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose. Woody Allen
I’m thankful to my family, friends, and fans for all of their support. Serena Williams
I’m thankful for serendipitous moments in my life, where things could’ve gone the other way. Rick Springfield

What are we thankful for? In my Thanksgiving post, I shared my recipe for thankfulness and it included the following: love, life, friends, family, health, our home, everyone, everything that uplifts humanity, pets, the power of prayer and God’s immutable grace… For this post, I’m sharing a few collages that represent the breath of life in all things; the changing face of nature and her seasons, the joy of living animal beings – lessons in surrender, the pleasure of food, nourishment and celebrations, gatherings on healthy living, service/love for others, and snippets of friends, family and blogger meetups. As Oprah Winfrey  said in the November issue of O magazine, “I just made gratitude a daily priority. I went through the day looking for things to be grateful for and something always showed up.

Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts. Allen Cohen

I am thankful, of course, for the prize and thankful to God for each story, each idea, each word, each day. Isaac Bashevis Singer
I’m thankful for the incredible advances in medicine that have taken place during my lifetime. I almost certainly wouldn’t still be here if it weren’t for them. Billy Graham
I’m very thankful to be doing what I’m doing. I feel very blessed. Justin Timberlake
I’m thankful for my songs being at the top of the charts but I am human – I think people still have to remember that. Delta Goodrem
I’m very humbled and honored. I’m very thankful to the Asian-American Community for all their support! Jeremy Lin
I’m thankful to get the opportunity to direct. I hope I don’t mess it up. Mark Harmon

I’m thankful for the breath of life in all things… If you noticed, above and below, I have added “I’m thankful for…” quotes from a wide range of people; each is a personal testament of faith and the grace that comes with a grateful heart. We honor whatever we are thankful for through our actions and commitments, so the least we can do is to stay connected to our vision and express our gratitude/thankfulness on a regular basis. Our thankfulness quotient is like a muscle, the more we affirm it, the stronger it becomes.

But friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life; and thanks to a benevolent arrangement of things, the greater part of life is sunshine. Thomas Jefferson

And I’m so thankful that I’ve been allowed to show another side of Trish. Trish Stratus
I am thankful I can see much to admire in all religions. Alfred Russel Wallace
I’m thankful for not ever taking anything illegal. Pedro Martinez
I’m just really thankful to have the chance to portray a character you don’t see every day. Regina King
I’m thankful for all the things that this job has given me and my family. But probably the thing that I am most proud of throughout my career is that, not only I myself, but my family and the people around me have just been regular people, which we are. Brett Favre
I feel so thankful that I’m able to be a part of something that I love to wake up and run to work every day. Alexander Wang

If you are really thankful, what do you do? You share. W. Clement Stone This is a great question and response. When we are thankful, we feel lifted and empowered. Our spirit of generosity is also elevated and we give more to those who have little…This holiday season is a great time to practice giving, sharing and helping others. Thank you! More below.

“If you and your children fare well, and your affairs be to your contentment, I give very great thanks to God, having my hope in heaven.” 2 Maccabees 9:20-The Bible

I’m thankful to be breathing, on this side of the grass. Whatever comes, comes. Ron Perlman
But I’m very thankful that no one is slamming my head against the wall anymore. Harry Anderson
I’m thankful that I have lived long enough to become a legend, and I hope I deserve it. Ralph Stanley
I’m really thankful and complimented when people come to me and say, thank you for the great times for all these years. But I don’t think about it as being a leader. Bill Kreutzmann

I’m thankful for the breath of life in all things… May your holiday season be rich, productive and abundant with opportunities to give, receive and share… What are your thoughts? What photos did you share on THANKFUL to fit the challenge? Was it easy/hard to find photos that supported your perspective on the subject? Were you drawn to certain types of photos for the prompt? Do share? Thank you! Have an awesome Thanksgiving weekend! 🙂

*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on reading and commenting on your blogs… I’m halfway there. Thank you all for your patience! 🙂

My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. I will list some when Zemanta offers them up! I added a few from WP Daily Post below. (I will update it and add more). We all appreciate trackbacks/ping-backs and Likes from fellow bloggers too! Check out how others interpreted the theme – THANKFUL – also below. ***

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful. Thankful. In the United States, yesterday was Thanksgiving, a holiday where people spend time with family and friends and remember the things they’re thankful for.  I think the idea of being thankful and reflecting back on good things in your life is something that naturally happens towards the end of a calendar year. This year, I’m really thankful for my good health, which affects everything and everyone else in my life! These legs and feet take me everywhere I need to go!  Share a picture which means THANKFUL to you!

Positive Motivation Tip: Count your blessings and name each one with a thankful heart. 🙂
