LMFAO – Sorry For Party Rocking

If you ever want to invite your inner child out to play, I’d suggest attending an LMFAO concert. Huge colorful sets, lots of humor, childlike fun and games with some heavy dance music thrown in … and you get the idea. On Tuesday evening, I was at the Nassau Coliseum having a great time and enjoying the music of LMFAO, Far East Movement, Sidney Samson, and Matthew Koma. For good measure, the show included amazing dance routines from dance contest winners, The Quest Crew. LMFAO is Redfoo (left huge afro) and SkyBlu (right), an electro-rap/hiphop duo from Los Angeles, CA. LMFAO made their major-label debut in 2008 with the single “I’m in Miami Bitch,” followed by their full-length album debut, Party Rock, which was released in July 2009.

LMFAO – Sexy and I Know It

LMFAO – Champagne Showers ft. Natalia Kills

The show started on schedule at 7pm with Matthew Koma as the opening act. He performed some of his popular songs and received a warm welcome from the crowd who were really hardcore LMFAO and Far East Movement fans… Yes, I say that because they were the two performances that rocked the house and got us all on our feet dancing… Sidney Samuel came close too, but I’m ahead of myself.  By the time LMFAO stepped on stage with their psychedelic colors, electronica sounds, garish clothing, and over the top everything, the crowd was ready and willing to tear the house down… I have to say, those guys are certified fun crazy… There were kids everywhere too. Yeah, don’t ask me, ask their mamas.  But jokes aside, there is a playful appeal that LMFAO has and it attracts kids.  I loved it. 😆

“Music cleanses the understanding; inspires it, and lifts it into a realm which it would not reach if it were left to itself.” Henry Ward Beecher

Matthew Koma – One (Live At The Cherrytree House)

Sidney Samson – Get Low (Original Mix) [FULL]

The show moved quickly, and as soon as Matthew was done performing his great songs, I loved Parachute, Dj Sidney Samuel stepped up and rocked it with his sounds… A lot of the kids in the crowd were jumping up and down and the noise level was unbelievable… but the music off Sidney’s equipment was phenomenal… Sidney, you impressed me too… Just saying.

Far East Movement – Like A G6 ft. The Cataracs, DEV

Far East Movement – Dirty Bass Boombox Sessions / Dirty Bass

I don’t know about you, but I love that Far East Movement group and sound… When high-school friends Kev Nish (born Kevin Nishimura), Prohgress (James Roh), and J-Splif, all of whom had grown up in downtown Los Angeles, formed the group in 2003, they didn’t expect to become this huge. DJ Virman joined the lineup a few years later. They had some early buzz with the ir sound and even got to tour overseas as the opening act of Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour. Their hugest hit that finally put them over the top was Like A G6 in 2010 and they haven’t looked back. Frankly, I wanted to see them perform and they didn’t disappoint. Come back for more photos later! 🙂

As one of my favorite authors Nora Ephron who passed away on Wednesday would say, “Whatever you choose, however many roads you travel, I hope that you choose not to be a lady…” Nora Ephron 1941-2012. Live a little. Have a lot of fun… Music appeals to all across the universal divide.   Don’t judge till you’ve heard the music… It’s all good. More photos later!

I like these guys for the fun quality they bring to their music and that is important too. Music doesn’t always have to be serious and I get your opening quote about choosing our fun. I’m with you on choosing music; in all its forms. Had a good laugb too.

I had a good laugh at the show too. It’s not my typical fare but when the opportunity arose, i said why not. We only live once and you know, those guys have such a playful nature about them and their show, it just shines. Their name might turn people off but they are about the joy of good humor. I won’t judge them as I suspect many others do. 🙂

Looks like a really fun concert! I’d say it’s been awhile since I’ve been to a consert. Recently I heard Peal Jam was playing in Missoula I would have like to have seen them. The tickets sold out in fifteen minutes. Snoose ya loose I guess. Oh well. I agree life is to Live and live fully is best. I always need to remind myself of this to not just let time go by unattended to. I think the big thing I’ve learned recently with the passing of my father in law. Was to be present when visiting with family and friends. Even if things are stressful to enjoy the company.

TY Star and that is the point of it. When I read the first quote, it made sense to me that yes, music would be my idea of fun… in all its shadings. Who are we to judge how another expresses their creativity? There is no right or wrong way to make music…. TY for your feedback. 🙂

      • 29/06/2012 8:29 am

I agree creativity can be so individual. I think when their is great joy that is what I look for I know I’m on the right track. Also when my head is on the pillow and I’m drifting off to sleep. If my words quiet whispers are “That was SO much fun!” I know I have found somthing special. I Love live music it’s been awhile I’ll have to make some time for that in the near future. :+) Thank You for reminding me that and how much fun it can be.

    • 01/07/2012 7:37 am

Right… If we are enjoying a creative expression and it tickles our funny bone and lightens our spirit, that works for me too… I won’t impose rigid rules on the definitions of fun… Kids know better on that one too. TY! 🙂

  3. 28/06/2012 1:08 pm

I will come back later and listen to the music I am in a quiet area and can not play videos. I don’t want to get shhhhhh’d. :+)

  4. 28/06/2012 2:15 pm

Right on and it looks like it was fun for everyone there! (just love the speedo shots…hehe) Thanks for sharing 🙂

    • 29/06/2012 2:41 am

It was fun and that is the energy the show brought to us… TY! 🙂

  5. 28/06/2012 3:12 pm

Nice question in the first quotation, Elizabeth! Very interesting.

    • 29/06/2012 2:42 am

😆 I knew you’d observe that… I was struck by it when I got it in my email and you know, I said, music would do it for me… 🙂

  6. 28/06/2012 4:17 pm

What a blast you picture here. And I share your respect for Nora Ephron–Rest In Peace, Norah!

    • 29/06/2012 2:42 am

RIP Nora… She also knew how to have a good ol’ fun time. TY! 🙂

  7. 28/06/2012 4:57 pm

With two young boys in my house, we’ve heard quite a bit of LMFAO. They’re a lot of fun. Also, love your quote from Nora Ephron! 🙂

    • 29/06/2012 2:44 am

TY Karen and I bet she would have approved. Life is about finding our joy and music does it for me. These guys were a ton of fun and it felt like being on a colorful playground… Their name is deceptive. Their show is playful and joyful and that is why they attract a lot of kids… 🙂

  8. 28/06/2012 7:11 pm

How cool! I haven’t been to a concert in ages. This looks like so much fun! The pics are great too! Thanks for sharing!

    • 29/06/2012 2:45 am

TY!! It really was fun and fun that all of our inner children could learn to appreciate. Their name is really tongue in cheek. 😉

  9. 28/06/2012 7:23 pm

    Love this!

    • 29/06/2012 2:46 am

      TY! me too. 🙂

      • 29/06/2012 2:54 am

So wonderful – I want them to come here – hehe!

      • 29/06/2012 2:56 am

I hope they do… they really know how to make people laugh and not take life so seriously. 😉

  10. 28/06/2012 10:28 pm

I wouldn’t say this is my favorite, but I don’t think I’m their target audience! What I do love is music, and I love that others find enjoyment and glee with LMFAO. That’s all that matters! 🙂 Debra

    • 29/06/2012 2:48 am

TY Debra and that is what matters… We can find our joy in other types of music too. About their audience, it is a wide range from kids to older folk. I was surprised to see so many kids at the concert, but once the colorful beach balls and stuffed animals came out, it made sense. It was liberating. 🙂

  11. 29/06/2012 5:26 am

Looks like the best fun ever! I love the John Lennon quote, and the George Eliot one is so true. 😉

    • 29/06/2012 5:44 am

TY! Same here too and it was sheer fun in a childlike free way and the kids loved it too. 🙂

  12. 29/06/2012 6:00 pm

Well, well, Elizabeth. I’m sure it was fun

    • 01/07/2012 7:25 am

It was and kids love it too… you know they are not judgmental like adults. 😆

  13. 29/06/2012 9:08 pm

OMG it looks like you were right next to them at the concert. I love the quirky irreverence of lmfao. I always smile when one of their tunes is on the radio.

    • 01/07/2012 7:31 am

I love your term “quirky irreverence” and I’m stealing it. They are tongue in cheek with their music but some take it all too seriously… TY! 🙂

  14. 29/06/2012 11:53 pm

Well I’m certainly LMFAO, they are hilarious, especially ‘I’m sexy and I know it’. Oh and I love the zebras. Thanks for sharing I bet it was a fun night 🙂

    • 01/07/2012 7:33 am

You and me both on the zebras… You should have seen what the crowd was doing with the zebras when they were tossed to them… It was so wonderfully hysterical.
They had the zebras break dancing… 😆 I had a joyful time… Wish others would get beyond the outfits and some of the crazy language. These guys are big kids and we all need to let the kid come and play now and again… helps our creative spirit too. :|TY! 🙂

  15. 01/07/2012 9:40 pm

I try and make fun a very important part of my daily life, although I do not think life is a joke, I do think we should have fun during our life it is as important as every other aspect of our lives.

    • 02/07/2012 12:44 am

TY Jim! Fun is healthy too and it increases our positive energy and helps us move forwrad too. Life is not a joke but fun is necessary to life. 🙂

  16. 04/07/2012 9:06 am

“Don’t judge till you’ve heard the music… It’s all good” Great advice for life itself 🙂 Great post Elizabeth. Hilarious and fun. Thanks for sharing.
